Bomet County, Kenya — A secondary school teacher was brutally killed by her husband during a domestic dispute, right in front of their children. The deadly incident occurred at the couple’s home in Kinyelwet village, Kipsonoi Ward, Sotik Sub-county.

According to police reports, the victim—identified as Beatrice Ngeno, an English Literature teacher at Kamureito Secondary School—was assaulted by her spouse, Peter Ngeno, following a heated argument with alleged infidelity involved. Commander Edward Imbwaga confirmed she suffered fatal injuries from a panga slash to the head and legs.
Neighbours rushed BECTICE to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead on arrival after failing to regain consciousness. The couple’s young children were reportedly present during the assault and witnessed the tragedy unfold.
The alleged attacker fled the scene but was later arrested by local law enforcement. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is now handling the case and plans to charge him with murder. Purchase reports from the police indicate that the crime appears to have been motivated by marital tensions.
This incident adds to a growing wave of gender-based violence in Bomet County, which has seen multiple cases of domestic disputes leading to severe injuries or deaths. Public concern about rising homicides linked to family conflicts has also intensified.
County officials, alongside civil society groups, have called for stronger measures to protect women and children. They emphasize the need for early intervention strategies, conflict resolution mechanisms, and community awareness to prevent future tragedies.
