National Assembly Majority Leader John Mbadi has defended the Kenya Kwanza administration, insisting that the current economic challenges are a result of decisions made during former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tenure.

Speaking on Monday, Mbadi argued that the country’s high public debt, rising cost of living, and fiscal constraints were inherited by President William Ruto’s government, which, he said, is working to stabilize the economy.

“The economic mess we are dealing with today was not created by Kenya Kwanza. The heavy borrowing, delayed infrastructure payments, and mismanagement happened during the previous administration,” Mbadi said.

His remarks come amid growing public anger over high taxes and rising commodity prices, with critics accusing the Kenya Kwanza government of worsening the situation through aggressive revenue collection measures.

Mbadi urged Kenyans to be patient, expressing confidence that ongoing reforms will eventually improve the economy.
